About Us We are multi-disciplinary engineers who aim to develop and patent technology then license it to others to use.
For the past 20 years we have specialised in mechanically treating surfaces
in the presence of chemicals for engineering purposes.
Our chemical-mechanical surface treatments either raise or lower friction improve
or inhibit adhesion, raise or lower
surface energy and
reactivity etc.
Recently we developed new tool concepts utilising similar chemical-mechanical principles for uses beyond engineering, such as domestic cleaning, auto aftermarket, skin care and medical applications.
In skin care and shaving we have demonstrated massage tools that can make a face look younger.
We also enhanced razor blade life during shaving by
reducing blade cutting friction.
We are currently developing new ways of frictionally joining
metal tubes with chemicals for use in oil wells and pipe
lines without heating or threading. These joins can be further expanded up to
the tubes plastic limit without loss of strength.
Brief
History Ball Burnishing Machine Tools Ltd. was founded in 1979 to develop and
manufacture precision bore sizing (ballizing or ball burnishing) machines. The TribTech
trade name (tribos being Greek to rub) was adopted after we discovered means of
radically enhancing friction between metals with chemicals. We
describe the chemicals as 'anti-lubricants' because they act in the reverse of
lubricants. It was the need to apply these to surfaces
that lead us to develop chemical-mechanical applicators.
