Expandable tubular joins

Expandable swaged tubular joins between thin wall tubes

These joins are designed to:

	be made entirely cold without need to apply external or generate internal heat
	exceed parent metal strength in torsion
	be capable of secondary radial expansion up to the plastic limits of the tube material without loss of strength within the join

The above pictures illustrate experimental expandable swaged friction joins currently under development for pipe line and oil-well use. The aspect ratios of wall thickness to diameter are similar to midrange OCTG workstring standards.

The initial joins shown above have displayed strengths in torsion of the order of double the yield strength of the basic tubes.
